Multiple window spectrogram and time-frequency distributions

چکیده
We extend the spectrum estimation method of Thomson to non-stationary signals by formulating a multiple window spectrogram. The traditional spectrogram can be represented as a member of Cohen’s class of time-frequency distributions (TFDs), where the smoothing kernel is the Wigner distribution of the signal temporal window. We show the unusual shape of the Cohen’s class smoothing kernels corresponding to the Thomson method multiple windows. These are a class of smoothing kernels not hitherto used in time-frequency (t-f) analysis. Examples of the mnltiple window spectrogram applied to a noisy dual linear FM test signal and t o actual underwater acoustic da ta demonstrate the merit of the method.

Sparse Reconstruction of Multi-Window Time-Frequency Representation Based on Hermite functions
Multi-window spectrograms offer higher energy concentration in contrast to the traditional single-window spectrograms. However, these quadratic time-frequency distributions were not introduced to deal with randomly undersampled signals. This paper applies sparse reconstruction techniques to provide time-frequency representations of nonstationary signals using the Hermite functions as multiple w...
متن کاملThe VLSI Design of the Minimal Dimension, Cost and Power Consumption System for Time-Frequency Signal Analysis
Multiple clock cycle implementation (MCI) of a flexible system for time-frequency (TF) signal analysis is presented. Some very important and frequently used time-frequency distributions (TFDs) can be realized by using the proposed architecture: the spectrogram (SPEC) and the pseudo Wigner distribution (WD), as the oldest and the most important tools used in TF signal analysis; the S-method (SM)...
متن کاملMeasuring Time-Frequency Distributions Concentration
Efficient measurement of time-frequency distributions (TFDs) concentration can provide a quantitative criterion for evaluation of various distributions performance. It can be used for adaptive and automatic parameter selection in time-frequency analysis, without supervision of a user. Measures for distribution concentration of monocomponent signals date back to [3], [8]. For more complex signal...

متن کاملA Refined Time-frequency Reassignment Technique Applied to Dolphin Echolocation Signals
Existing time-frequency representations are usually too noisesensitive or has too bad resolution for studying multiple transient signal components of biosonar signals. In this paper we calculate reassigned spectrograms using the first Hermite function as window. The optimal length Hermite function giving the perfectly localized reassignment for a Gaussian function is combined with a novel techn...
